supposedly, your soul weighs 21g.
scientists have studied corpses
and come up with theories
that when you die, a little electromagnetic matrix
escapes your lips never to be seen again.
that is to say, there is 21g of matter unaccounted for
in your feeble frame -
you can spend hours beefing up
or whittling down,
but it’s still there,
it’s still there
and you still can’t shift it.
when i die, i’m going to donate my body
to the earth on which i fall to my knees
but not my body as a whole:
i’ll choke out my last words,
and they’ll be damn good last words,
and you can bet that those words
will weigh exactly 21g.
